The team used a porcine model of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and applied RNA-seq to compare the transciptomes of animals with and without ligament reconstruction or repair. The study “Transcriptional Profiling of Articular Cartilage in a Porcine Model of Early Post-Traumatic Osteoarthritis” in the Journal of Orthopaedic Research confirmed the development of a microscopic PTOA stage after ACL surgery, but also identified novel targets for specific intervention. The team included PhD student Kimberly Waller and Masters student Kaitlyn Chin.
