Desai receives $1.2M from Gates Foundation

Sorensen Family Dean of Engineering Tejal A. Desai has received a three-year, $1,200,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop encapsulated cell factories for sustained delivery of antibody therapeutics.
Prateek is a 2nd year Biomedical Engineering master’s student pursuing the non-thesis track. In his third semester at Brown, he was able to participate in the co-op program as an international student. Prateek worked in the Research & Development team at BD in Warwick, RI.
Kiara Lee will graduate with a doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering and a master’s degree in Global Public health, which she earned through the Open Graduate Education Program. Her dissertation, Leveraging Biotransport Mechanisms in the Design of Technologies to Improve Access to Blood-Based Diagnostics, was selected for the Joukowsky Prize in the life sciences.
School of Engineering Assistant Professor Vikas Srivastava, Senior Lecturer Christopher Bull, and Professor Yue Qi were among those honored with Brown University’s awards in teaching, mentoring, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in the annual ceremony sponsored by the Harriet W. Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning.

Coulombe wins 2023 Research Seed Award

Usherwood ’22 selected NSF Graduate Research Fellow

Brown School of Engineering recent graduates Jennifer Bui ’20, Jon Nelson ’20 and Thomas Usherwood ’22 were each awarded a three-year National Science Foundation fellowship in the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP). Additionally, Lizzie Kimmel ’21 was chosen as an honorable mention candidate for the fellowship.
