ORS 2020 - Phoenix, AZ
After spending a summer in MATLAB staring at bones, working through matrix math, googling new functions, I submitted my first abstract to a conference—the Orthopedic Research Society (ORS). I turned my summer’s work into a one-page document, securing an invitation to present a poster at this 5-day event in Phoenix, AZ.

5 Theses Defended Before the Start of the 2020 Spring Semester
Three PhD students, one master's student, and one undergraduate student defended their theses this winter. The graduate degrees will be conferred in February. The undergraduate midyear completion celebration took place on December 7th, and a diploma will be awarded in May. Congratulations to the new graduates!

Sahani Wijesinghe, is a first-year master’s student in the Biomedical Engineering Program. At a young age, she knew she was interested in the medical device sector, so she chose BME as her undergraduate degree because she wanted a field that merged engineering and medicine.

BME Community Town Hall Shapes Vision for the Future
The Brown University Center for Biomedical Engineering (CBME) held the first Town Hall meeting on October 3rd, 2019. The meeting opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Kareen Coulombe, Director of Graduate Study and Assistant Professor of Engineering and Medical Science, and was an open forum comprised of graduate students, faculty and staff, intended to encourage open dialogue between students and faculty.
